  1. I really enjoyed reading the book Shift. I am usually very reluctant on having to do my summer reading, but this book kept me very interested the whole time. For me, this book was very easy to connect with. Win and Chris are very close friends when they go on this across country bike trip. They have just graduated and are about to split up to go to college. As we learn more about their relationship, we learn more about why Win disappeared. My best friend and I are very close. Our parents are always asking us, “What will happen when you two have to split up for college?” Reading this book really made me think about what Win did. By disappearing he was able to find himself, and finally be happy with his life. The plot to this book was set up very well, I thought it was well organized and kept you guessing through the whole book. I enjoyed how it switched from Chris’ memories from the bike trip, to what Chris was going through looking for Win, and being interrogated by the FBI agent. My prediction for this story is that Chris and Win probably stayed friends. After Win lets Chris know he is never returning, I think Chris probably took some time to accept this. However, I have a feeling that saying goodbye to Win was not really goodbye for Chris, but a see you later. They will probably stay in or meet up some time later in life. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a very close relationship with their best friend, or to anyone who enjoys reading. This is a great book, and if you read it you will not be disappointed. 2. Shift, by Jennifer Bradbury, I have to say was a good book. It wasn’t a book I would actually read or have interested in but it came out better than I thought it would. A connection I made was surprisingly with win. All Win wanted to do was be able to make his own decisions without his parents always having to do so. I always love when my parents give e me advice but I would like to make my own decisions in life without them doing it for me. When Win left his best friend Chris alone on the bike trail I felt that it was wrong and very selfish of him. If Chris is supposed to be his best friend shouldn’t he be able to share the information so Chris could give support or his opinion about what he was planning on doing? It was an easy going book but it took awhile for the events to unfold which made the suspense build up a lot. I am sure it was a great experience for them to be alone biking through different cities and learning about different cultures and people. Overall, learning to be your own person and making your own decisions in life and being on your own can really make you grow as a person. A question I would ask the author is what inspired her to write this story? (T.A 10th Grade, ATC)
